1999 ANNUAL REPORT - SUMMARY
THE COMMITTEE ON COMPUTERS IN CHEMICAL EDUCATION (CCCE)

The charge of the CCCE Committee is, "to seek to publicize and promote the use of computers in chemical education." The CCCE has sponsored a number of activities during the year to fulfill this charge. It should be noted that the CCCE members have recently recommended to the CHED Executive Committee that the CCCE charge should be revised to read,
The Committee on Computers in Chemical Education (C.C.C.E.) seeks to encourage and support the development, implementation and assessment of computing technologies in chemical education.
The regularly scheduled two issues of the Computers in Chemical Education Newsletter were published during the year. Plans are currently underway to convert the Newsletter into an on-line publication by the end of the current year.
As is customary, the CCCE sponsored symposia related to computers in chemical education at both of the national ACS meetings in 1999. At the spring meeting in Anaheim, Abby L. Parrill organized a symposium entitled, "Using Computers to Facilitate Learning." and at the fall meeting in New Orleans, Brian Tissue organized a symposium entitled, "Chemistry and the Internet."
The CCCE sponsored several On-Line Computer Conferences:
